Incorporating a 6 member band that has re produced the Chicago soundtrack to the key, and with an extremely talented dance troupe, Nida Butt; CEO and Founder of MFS has directed, produced and choreographed one of the most costly and daring musicals in the theatrical history of Pakistan. The production was staged in Karachi in July of 2008 and proved to be a runaway hit.The soft-opening red carpet event and press night was attended by the “Who’s who” of Pakistan (To see photos and interviews from these events please visit our Gallery) sell out to a full house every night of its 10-day run, it also ran an extra 11th night to meet popular demand. Chicago will now return to Karachi for its sophomoric run from 11th to 20th January 2009 in the Arts Council and run in Lahore for the first time in Al-hamra from 30th January to 6th February 2009.
is a Kader and Ebb musical set in prohibition era Chicago. the book is by Ebb and Bob Fosse. the story is a satire on corruption in the administration of criminal justice, and the concept of "celebrity criminal" The musical is based on a 1926 play of the same name by reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins about actual criminals and crimes she had reported on.
Bob Fosse choreographed the original production and his style is strangely identified with the show. Chicago's 1996 Broadway revival holds the record for the longest running musical revival on Broadway and, as of March 2, 2008, it has played for more than 4,684 performances. the revival was followed by a production on London's West End and several tours and international productions. An Academy Award-winning film version of the musical was released in 2002.
